چکیده

The design of a water distribution network (WDN) is an ever-challenging problem. formulation and application optimization techniques for WDN have been important area research. Recently, the introduction chaos theory-based evolutionary algorithms (EAs), in addition to traditional random-based ones, has elevated scope further improving performance EAs. present study proposes chaos-directed genetic algorithm (CDGA) by incorporating ergodicity GA mechanics optimal WDNs introducing two novel frameworks, namely non-sequential approach sequential approach. In search efficacy GA, influence chaotic systems with high-dimensionality maps also explored when compared low-dimensionality maps. Considering four widely studied benchmark problems ranging from 8 454 dimensions, proposed CDGA models evaluated. results show that outperform better efficacy, requiring fewer function evaluations locate solution. addition, are found other reported previously handle these problems. Based on obtained, suggests use system bio-inspired improve their searchability and, thus, computational efficiency.

Comparison of Simulated Annealing, Genetic, and Tabu Search Algorithms for Fracture Network Modeling

The mathematical modeling of fracture networks is critical for the exploration and development of natural resources. Fractures can help the production of petroleum, water, and geothermal energy. They also greatly influence the drainage and production of methane gas from coal beds. Orientation and spatial distribution of fractures in rocks are important factors in controlling fluid flow. The obj...

Tabu search algorithms for water network optimization

In this paper we propose a tabu search algorithm to find the least-cost design of looped water distribution networks. The mathematical nature of this optimization problem, a nonlinear mixed integer problem, is at the origin of a multitude of contributions to the literature in the last 25 years. In fact, exact optimization methods have not been found for this type of problem, and, in the past, c...

AN EFFICIENT CHARGED SYSTEM SEARCH USING CHAOS

The Charged System Search (CSS) is combined to chaos to solve mathematical global optimization problems. The CSS is a recently developed meta-heuristic optimization technique inspired by the governing laws of physics and mechanics. The present study introduces chaos into the CSS in order to increase its global search mobility for a better global optimization. Nine chaos-based CSS (CCSS) methods...

An Iterated Local Search Algorithm for Multi-Period Water Distribution Network Design Optimization

Water distribution networks consist of different components, such as reservoirs and pipes, and exist to provide users (households, agriculture, industry) with high-quality water at adequate pressure and flow. Water distribution network design optimization aims to find optimal diameters for every pipe, chosen from a limited set of commercially available diameters. This combinatorial optimization...
